Good news, Hampton Hillers: Crews may finally get around to moving the mountains of brush, branches and limbs you’ve left at the curb. So far, crews have collected 13,500 tons of debris from the Feb. 11 snowfall. They’re working six days a week, moving about 700 tons per day. The Sanitation Services Department says the brush and branches will be collected on the normal brush-bulk trash collection days, but crews are about a week behind schedule. Since our pick-up time was last week, let’s keep our fingers crossed that we’ll be visited by crews this week.
Much of the storm debris is being processed into rough mulch — too coarse for flower beds, but OK for walkways or adding to compost piles. If you want compost, you can pick it up at the Bachman Transfer Station, 9500 Harry Hines Blvd., of the McCommas Bluff Landfill, 510 Youngblood Road.
