yard of the month

Congratulations to Tony Medaris, whose beautiful home at 1606 Montreal Ave. received the Yard of the Month for March. a second chance

If your trash or recyclables weren’t picked up today because you had your carts in the wrong place, don’t fret. Call 311. Mary Nix, Dallas’ director of Sanitation Services, says trucks will swing by tomorrow. For the next couple of weeks, the City is giving everyone a second chance for pickup.

good news about odd fellows

Good Neighbor Phil Leven checked out the special use permit issued to Odd Fellows Hall at 1808 S. Hampton Road back in the 1970s. As it turns out, the only possible uses for the building would be another Odd Fellows Hall or “a great little church.” The bottom line: We don’t have to worry about [...]

It was a perfect way to end the work week and the month. Next month’s event will be hosted by Mary Maddox [...]

We will notify each affected customer on Monday, March 1 that both recycling and refuse will be collected in the alley. Just in time for their [...]

They can’t understand why this should have to happen, especially since they have enjoyed alley pickup for many years. If the carts [...]

every house has a story

In early 1928, Laster Baskem Bruton, who came to Dallas shortly before to establish Hygienics Products Company’s southwest division, purchased his first home. He and his wife, Sarah Estella Stratton Bruton, met with the Hampton Hills developer, Alf W. Sanders, to ink the deal on a newly constructed Tudor-style cottage at 1510 Hollywood Ave. On [...]

storm debris cleanup could take weeks

City Manager Mary Suhm said this morning that she expects fallen tree limbs and other debris from last week’s snow storm could take another four or five weeks to clean up.

Brush can be put on the curb and will be picked up on normal garbage days. No need to call 311.

The city won’t issue any [...]
